PRESENTATION
Understanding Skin Cancer
with Leah Koskinen

This engaging and practical presentation combines a personal journey with lifesaving education about skin cancer and melanoma. Attendees will learn about the major types of skin cancer, why melanoma is particularly dangerous, and why EMS professionals may face increased risks from sun exposure. The session will cover realistic sun-protection strategies for EMS personnel, the ABCDEs of melanoma, the importance of routine skin exams, and how early detection can save lives. Participants will leave with greater awareness and simple, actionable steps to better protect themselves both on and off duty.

Assisting members  in their efforts to promote effective fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, and other emergency services through educational, technical, and legislative means.
