Join us for an engaging and research-driven presentation on The Evidence-Based Fireground Playbook, led by Keith Stakes, Principal Research Engineer with UL's Fire Safety Research Institute (UL FSRI), Deputy Chief of the Bethesda, Maryland Rescue Squad, and the recipient of the 2023 FDIC Instructor of the Year award.

Drawing on more than 20 years of groundbreaking fire service research, this didactic session will explore the science behind modern fireground operations and how evidence-based practices can improve firefighter safety, decision-making, and incident outcomes. Whether you are a company officer, chief officer, instructor, or firefighter, this presentation will provide valuable insights into the latest fire dynamics research and practical strategies that can be applied on today's fireground.

In addition to the classroom presentation, Keith Stakes and the UL FSRI team will conduct a hands-on practical training session on Saturday, September 19, at the Grand Haven Township Fire Department.

Participants will gain practical experience in hose stream mechanics, with instruction focused on water mapping, hydraulic ventilation, flow path management, and effective fire suppression techniques.

To accommodate more attendees, this practical training will be offered during two identical sessions: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Space for the practical sessions will be limited, so early registration is encouraged.
